Call for Challenge Proposals
Starting from MIREX 2024, we invite proposals for challenges addressing new research problems from the ISMIR community. These challenges should aim to push the boundaries of current research and foster innovation within the field of music information retrieval.
We also encourage challenge sponsors from the industry and research labs (for datasets and computational resources), but it is not required.
Special Rules for Year 2024
Since this is the first year we bring back MIREX, it runs on a small scale and we simplified the process. The MIREX organizers will handle all submission collection and evaluation processes of the new challenges if they are accepted.
The MIREX organizers have decided to retain a short list of classical tasks (see our wiki page), so please make sure your proposal is distinct from the existing task. For this year, we expect 1-2 proposals from this call to be added to this page. Starting from the next year (2025), all proposed challenges will require a task captain to help evaluate the participants' submissions. This also allows task captains to evaluate via their proprietary datasets. Details will follow.
Submission Format
A call for challenge proposal must contain the following content:
- Title
- Abstract
- Task description
- Significance of the task
- Evaluation criteria
- Datasets and resources provided
- Requirements for submission
Please submit a 2-4 page PDF to the MIREX organizing committee future-mirex@googlegroups.com. before the due date.
Deadlines
- Challenge proposals due: Aug 7, 2024
- Notification of acceptance: Aug 14, 2024
